06.22.18 — Intro to Shibori Dyeing Workshop

100.00

Workshop taught by: Whitney Crutchfield with We Gather

Date: Friday, June 22nd

Time: 6pm-8:30pm

Join us for an evening of textile and color magic with Whitney Crutchfield of WE GATHER!

In this workshop, we'll explore the art of Shibori dyeing on fabric, a craft that relies on folding, clamping, and wrapping to create mesmerizing patterns. You'll learn several different methods of Shibori binding and combine them with the color-magic of fiber reactive dyes on fabric. We will use a variety of natural fiber swatches to experiment with these low-impact and color-rich dyes, all the while creating beautiful patterns and textures.

Everyone will walk away with their hand dyed linen throw and a silk bandana, plus all the knowledge you need to do it all again at home!

This workshop includes all materials, including a linen throw and silk bandana for every participant. Feel free to bring 1-2 additional small (pillow case or smaller) fabric samples or items to dye (these should be limited to cotton, linen, hemp, rayon, or silk).

What you'll get (and keep):

  • 2.5hrs of personalized workshop instruction

  • Linen throw + silk bandana

  • Use of dyes + tools

  • Sips + treats

  • 10% off The Paper + Craft Pantry retail

All workshop sales are final- no refunds or exchanges. Only one seat will be saved per paid ticket. Ticket sales will end 24 hours prior to workshop.

Please be sure to read our Workshops FAQ and become familiar with our policies and procedures! If you have any questions, please email workshops@thepapercraftpantry.com

Once you have successfully purchased the workshop, you should receive a confirmation for your seat. If you do not receive a confirmation, that means that we do not have record of you for this workshop.

MEET WHITNEY:

Whitney Crutchfield is the founder and textile artist behind WE GATHER, a Brooklyn-based brand of hand-dyed handwoven home goods and educational textile studio. She has been rather textile-obsessed ever since learning to sew a reversible Barbie skirt in kindergarten, and has been weaving and dyeing her own textiles for over 10 years. Whitney works to create beautiful textiles that last, and she teaches others about the sheer delight of fabric at FIT and in the WE GATHER studio, as well as other awesomely creative venues around the country
