D.I.Y. Fall Cardigan Upgrade

Pei Sim

  • A cardigan from your closet
  • Felt pieces
  • Needle + Thread
  • Printer Paper + Pencil
  • Optional: Sewing pins

It's finally beginning to feel a lot like fall around here and that can only mean it's finally time for sweater and cardigan weather! Whether you're wanting to give your well worn and loved cardi an upgrade and fresh lease on life, this little hand stitched D.I.Y. is just for you. With simple supplies you probably already have lying around at home, you too can add some flair to your cardigan ensemble!

Follow our 3 simple steps and delight the person in line behind you while you order your pumpkin spice latte ;)

1. Using printer paper and a pencil, doodle your patch design! Pro-tip: simple shapes are the best, don't forget to size these to about 4-5" in diameter so it'll cover your elbows.

2. Cut out your design on paper and using sewing pins, attach it to your felt and snip away!

3. Using your sewing needle and thread, use a simple running stitch to attach your felt patch to your cardigan. Pro-tip: grab a friend to help you pin the patch on your elbow before stitching it on. This will help ensure your patch is in line with your elbow.

*If you get tired of your new elbow patches, simply get a seam ripper to gently pick the stitches out.
